During his ongoing visit to Colombo, President Nasheed has met with the Ambassador of Japan to the Maldives on Friday.

The meeting was primarily held to discuss the ongoing political crisis in the Maldives and to brief the Ambassador on the status of all issues including all party talks.

President Nasheed reiterated the importance of support from the international community including Japan, as a main market for tourism, to help legitimise the democratic process in the Maldives.

Ambassador reassured Japan’s support to assist stabilize the political situation and to continue to monitor the developments in the Maldives.
