Commenting on Rwanda’s 20th commemoration of the Genocide against the Tutsi, President Nasheed said:
“Today we stand with Rwandans as they mark the 20th commemoration of the Genocide against the Tutsi.
“It was one of the darkest periods in modern history. But from that deep and unfathomable tragedy, I am pleased that Rwanda has rebuilt itself and Rwandans are now focused on the peaceful cause of nation building.
“Twenty years ago the international community failed to act, with terrible consequences. Today, we must recognise that we have a responsibility to prevent such atrocities from ever taking place again.
